A spectacular Fiji experience…
Perhaps there is no better phrase to describe discovering Fiji by kayak – as you glide through shallow, pristine waters over colourful reefs teeming with tropical fish and then add visits to Fijian villages where you will experience the most warm welcomes imaginable. Discovering Fiji by Kayak adds a whole new dimension to the wonderment of adventure travel. But don’t let the term ‘adventure holiday’ conjure an image of an uncomfortable challenge – more appropriate images are warm white sand beaches, comfortable camping under star-strewn skies, and cultivating new friendships while relaxing on stunning palm tree fringed shorelines.

Yasawa Desert Island Dreaming
One of their most popular trips is Yasawa Desert Island Dreaming, where you paddle in modern expedition-style kayaks through the remote islands of the Northern Yasawas. The trip follows an itinerary dictated by the winds and the tides. Highlights include; stopping at uninhabited beaches for picnic lunches and snorkelling. You generally kayak for three to four hours each day, leaving ample time for swimming, visiting nearby villages or just relaxing in a tropical paradise.
The tour is an 8 day trip with 6 days kayaking. You begin this spectacular vacation in the Yasawa Islands with a boat transfer from Nadi. You end up at Southern Sea Ventures Fijian base, situated in the beautiful Blue Lagoon. You will spend the first day at base undergoing kayak familiarisation which includes a paddle around the bay.
Your tour will paddle a loop among the four northernmost Islands in the chain. You spend two nights as honoured guests in a traditional Fiji village and then paddle to a secluded uninhabited island to camp for two nights. You will experience spectacular sunsets, limestone caves, white sandy beaches and snorkelling among exquisite coral reefs.
For instance, when you arrive at the village of, Navotua on Nacula Island, children rush to meet you with smiles beaming and many excited ‘bullas’. Before you know it they are dragging your kayaks ashore and helping you carry your gear up to the village.
A typical dinner is a traditional Fijian meal prepared in an earthen oven. Smoky baked chicken and pork are accompanied by an array of root vegetables.
There are about 75 inhabitants in the village. An abundance of happiness and unspoiled nature make it a very pleasant base. You will stage short explorations out of the village over the next couple of days. You will explore beaches, bays, caves and other small islands close by.
Camp Fijian Style – Under The Stars
After the stay, you will then journey back to Tavewa, camping overnight on the tideline of a deserted beach. Enjoy a couple of nights under the stars, around the campfire, reflecting on the days just passed with your new found friends.
The tour includes the first nights’ accommodation at Southern Sea Ventures group hotel in Nadi, transfer to the boat terminal, internal boat transfers, all meals except while in Nadi, tents, sleeping mats, all kayaking and safety equipment and clothing dry bags.
